Today is my 22nd birthday (ummm what, when did I become so old?) and what’s better than a post with pictures of silver foil balloons and a cute baby blue coat? Not much I can think of but there is one thing….well 22 things I wanted to add to the post to make it a little more fun. I want to share more about me and what I want to change and work on with the year to come. So when I turn 23 a year from now I want to be able to look back at this post and know that I accomplished all 22 goals I wanted to achieve. That can be better than pictures and a cute outfit right?! So here we go, 22 goals I want to work on to make myself better and the best person I can be (they aren’t in any order, I just kind of jotted them down when they came to mind.)
1. See the Positive in Everything:
even when times are tough and it seems easier to be negative, I want to see only the positive and think the positive. Find the silver lining in every moment.
2. Be Patient:
at times I know I can be inpatient and I want to change that. Being inpatient about things will not make anything go quicker. I have to remind myself to relax and let things flow.
3. Laugh More:
there doesn’t go a day that I don’t laugh but I want to laugh more. Laughter makes people happier and happiness is key in life.
this is probably one of my more important goals. I definitely have found confidence over the years but it hasn’t always been there. I still have times of insecurities, so I want to face those and always hold on to confidence for myself.
5. Become Healthier Physically and Mentally:
I recently have been going to the gym at Radford, that it has become a habit to go. I think that this is the first step to becoming healthier. In just a week and half I can see a difference in my attitude that I haven’t seen in a while.
traveling is only given to us for a limited time and before I am old I want to see and do more. Experience different cultures and see different parts of the world.
7. Show Kindness:
I always offer a helping hand to people and I want to do more of that. I want individuals to know I am here if they need anything.
sometimes I don’t communicate well with people I’m closest with. Changing this would make those relationships stronger.
9. Be an Avid Cook:
I have recently been cooking at my apartment; well when I find the time, so mainly on the weekends. I want to do it more though, its relaxing and actually really fun for me. I’ll possibly share some recipes I find and put them on here.
I want to be active in the Light the Night walks for blood cancer but I will be doing a post in the future devoted to explaining what that is all about.
11. Be Present:
“Live in the moment”, a quote I have been hearing more frequently. I want to be present in the moment I am currently in and not worry about whats next.
12. Don’t Complain:
everyone has there tendency of complaining about things but I personally want to cut it out of my life completely. Complaining about things we don’t want to do, like, or agree with doesn’t get us anywhere, so why do it?
13. Step Outside my Comfort Zone:
over the years I have made an effort of stepping out of my comfort zone and doing things I don’t necessarily feel comfortable doing. I want to push myself to do more of that and to always have fun doing it.
14. Be Myself and my Full Self:
when I know someone really well I know I am my full self. I want to be able to feel comfortable being my full self with people I just meet.
15. Cut Out the Procrastination:
I don’t always procrastinate but lately I have been putting things on the back burner and waiting last second to get it completed. I want to work on this aspect most because I feel life would be a lot more stress free if I get things done right away.
16. Blog More:
blogging is such a new thing to me but a wonderful new thing. I look forward to sitting down, putting pictures together and coming up with a post to share, it really is fun and satisfying. I want to do it more because it’s so rewarding for me.
17. Be More Spontaneous:
I’d like to say I am spontaneous, maybe not to others standards. Lets change that though, lets all do things on the spare of the moment and have a blast doing it!
18. Stop Worrying:
this is probably my least favorite thing about myself. I worry about things I am not in control of and I want to turn that around. The future is the future and worrying about it doesn’t solve anything. I can only take it one day at a time when it comes at me.
19. Love with all my Heart:
I think I pretty much already love with all my heart anyways but I threw it in here because loving unconditionally is never a bad thing and can always be worked on.
20. Be Brave:
this is for my dad, whom I lost almost three months ago. It’s the most important to me, it’s a reminder to Be Brave enough to do anything I want to do, with no judgements of others and no doubt from myself. Those two simple words are like a voice in my head from my dad saying “I am so proud of you”. For me if I am brave enough to do something I know if he were here he would be beyond proud.
